Which supplier pays you more?

Same blank, same selling price, every supplier that carries it.

Costs pulled directly from supplier APIs. Last refreshed , and refreshed again on the first of every month.

Where a supplier's API reports free US shipping I show it as free, because that is what they publish. I refresh these figures monthly, but shipping terms can change between refreshes, so it is always worth confirming against your own supplier account before you price a product.

Printify cost depends on which print provider fulfils the order, and their API publishes no prices at all, so Printify rows are manually checked snapshots rather than live figures. Rows marked check are overdue a re-verify. Printify Choice can also reassign your order to a different provider automatically, so confirm the price in your own account.

What This Calculator Includes

Shopify does not take a cut of your sale the way Etsy does, which makes the maths look simpler than it is. What you actually pay is a monthly subscription, a card rate on every order, and whatever you spend getting the customer there in the first place.

  • Supplier cost and shipping, filled in from Printful, Printify and Teelaunch, refreshed monthly. Override with your own at any time.
  • Shopify Payments card rates for Basic at 2.9%, Grow at 2.7% and Advanced at 2.5%, each plus $0.30, or PayPal if you use it.
  • Advertising, as a percentage of revenue or a flat amount per order, because on Shopify the traffic is your job and it belongs in the sum.
  • Discounts, as a dollar amount or a percentage.

It also shows which supplier nets you the most on the same product, which matters more on Shopify than on Etsy because there is no marketplace fee masking the difference.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is there no listing or transaction fee?

Because Shopify does not charge one on Shopify Payments. You pay a monthly subscription instead, which is a fixed cost rather than a per order one, so it does not belong in a per order calculation. Divide your monthly plan by the orders you actually ship to see what it adds per sale.

Which card rate should I pick?

The one matching your plan. Basic is 2.9% plus $0.30, Grow is 2.7% plus $0.30 and Advanced is 2.5% plus $0.30. If you use a third party gateway instead of Shopify Payments, Shopify adds a transaction fee on top, so enter your own numbers in that case.

Why does advertising default to none?

Because plenty of Shopify stores run on organic traffic, an email list or an existing audience, and forcing an ad cost into their maths would be wrong. If you do buy traffic, switch it on and enter it as a percentage of revenue or a flat cost per order, whichever matches how you actually think about it.

Is Shopify cheaper than Etsy?

Per order, usually yes, because there is no 6.5% transaction fee and no $0.20 listing fee. Overall it depends entirely on what you pay for traffic. Etsy takes $9.95 from a $100 sale and brings the buyer. Shopify takes about $3.20 and brings nobody. Run the same product through both and compare.

Are these supplier prices current?

They refresh on the first of every month. Printful and Teelaunch come straight from their APIs, Printify is checked by hand because their API publishes no prices. The verified date sits under the comparison table.

Work Out the Rest of It

What print on demand actually costs has the full supplier price tables. Printify shipping on multiple items matters more on Shopify, where you control the cart. Selling on Etsy too? There is an Etsy version of this calculator.

Prices verified September 9, 2026 and refreshed again on the first of every month.
